After taking some time off to recover from lingering injuries, surgery, and just dealing with life, I finally decided it was time to step back on the mats and pick up where I left off. Having trained with Felipe years ago, choosing the right academy was an easy decision. The moment I walked through the door on my first day, I was welcomed with a smile, a handshake, and a genuine sense of camaraderie. I knew instantly that I had found my place to train at. A huge part of what makes this gym so special is the culture the instructors have built. They genuinely care about their students. Felipe has an incredible ability to take complicated techniques and break them down so they actually make sense. He brings a sharp eye for detail while ensuring everyone feels supported, yet appropriately challenged. You can tell the entire coaching staff genuinely loves what they do, and that energy translates into every single class. The atmosphere here is awesome. Everyone is respectful, incredibly helpful, and invested in seeing each other improve. As someone returning from injuries, I deeply appreciate how safely and mindfully everyone trains. The students look out for one another, creating a highly supportive and ego-free environment. The coaches are awesome and have been really great with him. I recently attended one of their Dad & Me events and had a chance to see first hand how they structure their classes and interact with the kids. They did not disappoint! It was also a fun way to spend time with my son and get involved. Definitely recommend Mavericks to anyone looking for a great place to train.
